In order to update your router’s security settings follow these easy steps:
Step1 (Log in to your router)
To log in to your router
Run Internet Explorer (or your default browser) and enter gateway.2wire.net. That is your router interface address.
Step2 (Wireless Settings)
Hide SSID Settings
To hide your router’s SSID, Go to Home Network > Wireless Settings. This will display the Wireless Settings where you can configure your wireless network. Enter the name of the network in the Network Name box. To hide the SSID (Service Set Identification) ) uncheck the “Enable SSID Broadcast” option. This will hide your wireless network from the clients searching for wireless connections and thereby protect your network from hackers.
To make your wireless network safe, you should select the appropriate security option.
To do so, click Home Network > Wireless Settings
This router supports WEP Open, WEP Shared and WPA-PSK encryption.
It is recommended to use WPA-PSK encryption.
WPA-PSK
Select WPA-PSK as authentication.
Enter a WPA-PSK key of your choice by selecting the “Use Custom Encryption Keyâ€.
To save the setting changes you have made to your router, click Save.
